Add the number of student and adult tickets together to total 725 tickets

x + (x + 75)= 725
combine like terms
2x + 75= 725subtract 75 from both sides
2x= 650divide both sides by 2
x= 325 adult tickets

x + 75= 400 student tickets

ANSWER: There were 325 adult tickets sold
