Due to the lionfish not having any known predators in this region, it was able to reproduce with ease and no worry of any attackers, so nothing to keep the animal in check.
Because of this, the animal became an invasive species, and the people are trying their best to get rid of the species here by allowing anyone to catch it (with a permit/license as so non-permit people don't harm themselves) at anytime of year.
