The largest planet in the solar system, Jupiter, is located five planets from the sun. It is a massive gaseous planet that is almost 2.5 times larger than the total size of all the planets in the solar system.

Unlike other planets, it rotates on its axis in the opposite way. Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune are examples of additional gas planets. Rocks are thought to make up the solid core of Jupiter. Jupiter lacks a clearly defined solid surface, just as the majority of other planets. The planet has an oblate spheroid shape with a bulge at the equator as a result of its spinning. The planet's atmosphere is broken up into several bands that change with altitude. There is a lot of turbulence at the boundaries and storms, the most well-known of which being the Great Red Spot, a huge storm that was first seen using a telescope in the 17th century.

The planet has a bulge in its equator because its surface is not solid, which causes the rotational speed there to be different from that in its polar regions. At its equator, this planet rotates at a speed of 28,273 miles per hour. Around Jupiter's poles, a whole day is thought to last nine hours and 56 minutes, whereas at its equator, it takes nine hours and 50 minutes.
