An activity takes 63 minutes when there are 4 participants. The activity takes 87 minutes when there are 6 participants. Assume the relationship is linear. A line models the relationship between the number of participants, x, and the number of minutes, y. What is the slope of the line?

y=mx+b, first find the slope, m, (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

m=(87-63)/(6-4)=24/2=12, so far we have:

y=12x+b, now using point (4,63) we can solve for b

63=12(4)+b

63=48+b

15=b, so the line is:

y=12x+15

Anyway as we found earlier, the slope of the line is 12.
