The patient should be carefully placed in a left lateral recumbent position for transportation to the hospital. In a lateral recumbent position, the hands and legs are locked in order to ensure stability of the patient's position. Thus, the patient should be allowed to lie on her left side in a lateral recumbent position as part of the first aid measures to prevent aspiration.
