When crest of one wave overlaps with the crest of another wave, a new wave is formed whose amplitude will be greater than the amplitude of initial incident waves. If there is no phase difference between them then amplitude of the resultant wave will be sum of amplitude of the initial incident wave. The type of interference in which amplitude of the final wave is greater than that of the initial ones is said to be constructive interference.
