To make 2 apple pies, you need 4 pounds of apples. How many pounds of apples do you need to make 5 pies?

To solve this we must set up a proportion. 

For each pie we need 2 pounds because you divide 4 by 2.

So we do 5 times 2 which gives us 10 pounds per 5 pies
Your answer is 
You need 10 pounds of apples for 5 pies.
It'd be 2 pounds of apples per pie, right? So, you'd do 2 times 5 which would give you ten, and therefore, you'd need 10 pounds of apples to make 5 pies.
