Stagnation is the condition of being still, or not moving, similar to a sitting puddle of water where stagnation draws insects etc. In psychological terms Stagnation alludes to the inability to figure out how to contribute. Generativity versus stagnation is the seventh of eight phases of Erik Erikson's hypothesis of psychosocial improvement.
